How do I get access to Eureka2 or the Condor clusters?
Where can I get training opportunities?
Online training sessions and tutorials are available through Surrey Research Compute. See their Sharepoint site for a list of past and upcoming events.
You can also follow on-line courses on relevant subjects through the University’s LinkedIn Learning subscription. For a selection of interesting courses, see here.
I am new to research software engineering. Do you provide some guidance on best practises?
Yes, the RSEs are maintaining a guide on their SharePoint page, which gets updated on a regular basis.
Slurm Scheduler¶
How can I attach to a running Slurm job?
You can attach to a running Slurm job via the following command
1srun --pty --overlap --jobid MY-JOBID bash
Replacing YOUR-JOBID accordingly, this should give you a bash shell on the first node of your job.
Condor Scheduler¶
How do I get started on Condor cluster?
The University of Surrey’s GitLab includes more than 10 practise examples to guide you through the process of submitting jobs on Condor, ranging from a simple “Hello World” job to tasks involving Python, Matlab, Dockers, and more.
Data Storage¶
How do I request extra storage for my research data?
Project space provides managed storage for your research data beyond the available storage in your home directory. Explore how to request a project space here.
